dogs are perfect people

i swear i should just pay more attention to how my dogs view life. They're so good at it without ever really trying. they poop in the grooming salon without shame, and then they can ask for affection without hesitation or fear of rejection. they know they're loveable so damn it ...get scritchin' Cool. i think more people should aspire to be like my dogs. or dogs in general, but mine are just adorable. everyday i'm feeling better and better about moving back here and the choice i made...(especially because of certain people i've met...that always helps and it just makes life more fun...i'm starting to finally enjoy it for change) i just don't want to mess it up though...maisy would tell me to just shut up and ask or rather (expect) the love than be hesitant...starting to think she's right...

You say it's your birthday......it's my birthday too!

Today is Maisy's 5th Birthday. *sniff* My little baby is all grown up now. Actually, she really has no idea what day it is but seems to think she should be treated this well every day of her life frankly... I owe quite a bit to this little girl. She got me through some very rough patches during the last five years. She even got a dedication in my thesis. She is my teddy bear, my confidant, and my alarm clock. I never would have finished grad school if it weren't for her need to wake at 6 am every day. I'm so lucky to have such great little dogs. I feel sorry for people who can't relate to them. Today we will be going to Petsmart where Miss Maisy gets to pick out her present. Mia gets one too, but hey more the merrier and we get to do it all over again in December for Mia's birthday. Why not? I love the little things that make life bearable. I know many people live for huge celebrations like graduations, but for me, I will always cherish the small everyday miracles that seem invisible to most. Happy Birthday Maisy!Smile

dogs who have sniffles

the girls are getting over the sniffles. If you've never heard a schnauzer sniffle, it's kind of odd really. they sound like they're trying to hork something up or an unproductive cough. Poor babies. Mia doesn't help it any by eating verbotten things off of the ground which in turn get stuck in her throat. I worked this weekend....again...got no real housework done, but didn't really care. I may take a friday off to clean though so i don't feel like i lost my whole weekend cleaning up after myself. the house has been overrun by chew toys and half chewed dog bones. With all the rain, the girls have been a bit skittish and taking out the anxiety on the chewies...and each other.

I did get quite a bit done though but never completely of course that would be unheard of now wouldn't it? I think I spent every other moment just contemplating life in general and when i needed to escape from that, I read a book. I seem to have collected a nice little "to read" stack.  I used to be much more diligent about keeping the house clean. I never got the house completely in order so i think some of the clutter is just homeless for now. not good. need dresser, need new carpet....saw "proof" on cable...very depressing, but had Jake Gyllenhall and I could watch him all day depressing or not...::drool:: we need more Jake Gyllenhall movies.

Mia and her peeps

The Easter Beagle showed up at our house this weekend. The whole nostaligic idea of peeps attacked at Kroger and forced me to buy the mini-peep plush pack for the girls. If they only had squeakies.

my dog is cuter than your dog

This is Mia about a year ago. Even then she expressed herself eloquently.

the Don Corleone of Schnauzers

Someone left a stuffed toy squirrel in my bed yesterday. I can only assume that the girls are watching the Godfather when I'm at work.  They're upset that they have to share a crate when the painters are there. I really think it will be done today. Hopefully. Otherwise there may more than a stuffed squirrel next time.

schnauzerfest - 2006

this weekend was pretty productive. I'm really attempting to balance life...key word here..attempt. Anyhoo, The girls and I went over to Glen's house to help set up for a garage sale. See Glen's Blog here. Glen has 3 schnauzaers so it was thought that the dogs would play in the back yard while we set up the sale. Maisy clashed a bit with Jasmine who is queen diva schnauzer of glen's house. Maisy eventually wouldn't be quiet unless she was sitting in my arms. this hindered my ability to help after awhile. It was good to catch up a little with Glen after so long, but it also caused a little melancholy on my part as there's still some issues I have towards some of the people we both know. I'm resolving though that they aren't worth dwelling on though. I've recognized my anger and will use the energy in a positive manner as I've done quite well so far. I'm quite proud of the work I've done in the past 9 months, but I also need to learn to be a little more social no matter how much i've been screwed over by bad people. They can't all be bad. I do hope to hang out with glen again soon. He's an awesome individual who has managed to be a very positive person. and can deal well with those who've hurt him in the past. I'm still dealing with it (yes still. but really much better at focusing the the disgust i feel). I'm finding that i'm using work in some ways to escape from having to socialize but I figure at least it's getting my house redone and looking awesome. I really should start working on myself as well. Glen took pictures during the time I was there. I'm pretty self conscious about having my picture taken. Low self-esteem I guess. That and having gained some weight isn't exactly getting me running in front of a camera. But frankly, I need to just face my fear.

The rest of the weekend consisted of me finally steam cleaning my carpet in my house and designing a new look for Randy's top secret project. I hope he likes it. Alexi decided to take pictures of the girls as well...

Maisy has taken to batting her eyes...her groomer left her eyelashes long. I rather like her haircut this way. she's very ladylike.

Mia's all..."You talkin' to me?"

Everybody, everybody, everybody wants to be a cat...

Mia's daily pillow inspection.

If looks could kill...

Today my little Mia underwent girl surgery so she would never ever have to worry about the trials and tribulations of going into heat and dealing with girl crap. You think she would've been grateful, but NO. She did however have to have a dewclaw removed that the breeder who shall remain nameless forgot one when she was a puppy. Thinking that it was ok to wait til she was spayed, as the cost of anesthesia is pretty high, she also had to go through removing a now fully boned dewclaw. I thought at first I was being cruel to make her go through so much, but in the long run it's better that she have it done now. Having that huge curly claw get snagged and creating a worse situation would have been really bad. However my good my intentions were, Mia is quite PO'd at me and I got a huge look of absoltue betrayal and pouting that a cute little schanuzer can muster. She's resting in her beloved crate with maisy sleeping on top of the crate like a mother hen. I promise Mia no more. poor baby.

The evening was relatively spanish moss free

Well I've come to the conclusion that the girls have decided to take redecorating into their own paws and not consulting me about it. I also have reached the point where I really need to get out more when I begin seeing my schnauzers conspire together after watching too much trading spaces....but they make me happy and I do love my little dogs. even if they believe spanish moss looks good spread all over the carpet. (but it's Feng Shui mom!)

Maisy oversees the various perspectives of how the room "pops" from the arm chair angle view...more spanish moss is needed in the corner Mia....it's a trifle sparse in the corner...

Mia decides that a shredded basket makes the look complete as too much moss can make or break a room and God forbid if Martha Stewart drops by and asks for a tour. Please note the use of NO outlet covers to give a raw unfinsihed loft look....tres chic.

oh and multiple stuffed chew toys are a welcome addition to a comfy room....makes you want to pull up a chew toy and gnaw all day doesn't it?

Really truly need to stop working so much. When do I get to win the lottery again?
